April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball stars who have managed to win medals in multiple Olympics. Alix Kallineman will play alongside April Ross at Tokyo to win her third gold medal during the next couple of days. In addition, Ross is aiming to capture her very first Olympic gold. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' final opportunity to claim the Olympic gold medal. Her confidence is high nevertheless. Ross through NBC Boston, said that Ross was convinced that the team could achieve a gold medal, when we play our best. This is why I'm going to try a little bit of luck also. Ross was born in 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started taking part in athletics during her time at Newport Harbor High. She was able to participate in numerous activities in Newport Harbor High School. As a student-athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. She was definitely a cut above the rest in the latter sport. Based on her bio, she was a middle blocker and an outside hitter on the court of volleyball during her high-school career. The results of her efforts were acknowledged by her selection as the 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Even though Ross and Klineman have been playing together in 2017 and beyond, Klineman was already a big-time participant on the beaches even before the pair formed. Her name has appeared in major competitions with a variety of partners. One of them has become an icon of the world of volleyball. In the period 2007 to 2013, she worked with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Along with Kessy Ross was awarded a World Title in 2009 when she competed in the international circuit. The duo eventually captured gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary team consisting of Misty June-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a college athlete for USC Trojans before her pro career. She played in high school, as well as in the years before going to the beach for professional. In fact, her time through the institution was a memorable one. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans get to into the Final Four. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore season and yet she came back as an All-American. Through her final two years within the team, she guided the Trojans up the hill, capturing successive national titles. Ross was an excellent volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the college's top female volleyball player. Ross took a course in international relations at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, didn't get the privilege of watching her daughter turn into famous in beach volleyball. Ross's mother died in 2001, when Ross was still a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. She is deeply in love with her late parent. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her both in and out on the beach.
