April Ross

April Ross has won more than one gold medal in the Olympic Games. Ross is among a few female beach volleyball players that achieve this feat. Ross is scheduled to compete in Tokyo in her third Olympics medal, along with Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. At 39, this could be her last opportunity to accomplish this. But she's convinced that top honours are in reach. Ross through NBC Boston, said that he felt confident we could get a gold medal if we played our best. That's why I'm taking some luck and hope for the best. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. She then went on to compete in a myriad of sports as a student at Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball accomplishments as a prep athlete. When she played in the final sport, she clearly stood out. According to her bio, she played an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter in the volleyball court throughout her time in high school. The effort was recognized with her selection as the 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. In 2000, she received her the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross Klineman joined her partnership in 2017, but Ross had been a major player on the beach long before. It's true that she has been an active player on the scene of beaches throughout the years. In fact, Ross has won numerous tournaments, one of which was one with a famous volleyball legend. From 2007-2013 she played alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross was an active participant on the international circuit winning the world championship in 2009. They took home a Silver medal from the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor's famous team as well as Kerri Jennings claimed the gold. It was fate that had them. Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner in the event that May-Treanor decided to retire. In 2016, the duo were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross played in the NCAA tournament who played for the Trojans at USC before beginning making the jump to professional. She starred in high school and before playing on the beach as a professional. The USC experience was exceptional. While a freshman in the year 2000 she earned Pac-10 as well as NCAA The Freshman of the Year recognition and was an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. During her sophomore season, she was devastated by a personal setback, but she was able to win an All-American. In her two final years with the Trojans the team, she played a key role in helping to win two consecutive titles. Individually, she cemented her place as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award went to the top female college player in the country. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the opportunity to see her daughter become famous in beach volleyball. Ross lost her mother to breast cancer in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to hold her lost parent near and dear. Margie is an ever-present source of inspiration to her in and out of the water.
