April Ross

April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball stars to win medals in many Olympics. Ross is scheduled to compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. Ross wants to achieve more than her initial Olympic medal. With her age of 39, it may be her final opportunity to claim the Olympic gold medal. Nevertheless she is confident that winning the gold medal is on the horizon. If we play our best or even if we play very well, I think we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross spoke of via NBC Boston. In addition, I'm planning to play a bit of fortunate. Ross born in 1982 and lived within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started playing sports at the Newport Harbor High school. At Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many sports. She participated in basketball and track in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits in her time as a college athlete. When she played in the final sport she stood out. While in high school she played middle blocker outside setter and hitter on a volleyball court according to her university bio. In recognition of her work she was honoured as an 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. She also won her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in 2000. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play since 2017. However, Ross had already been a seasoned participant in the beach volleyball scene before this pairing. She's won big competitions with a variety of partners. A couple of those is an iconic player in the volleyball world. From 2007 to 2013, she was working with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Along with Kessy, Ross won the World Championship in 2009, while racing internationally. The pair eventually captured one silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor's legendary team and Kerri Jennings claimed the gold. In the end, fate had it that way. Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner in the event that May-Treanor decided to retire. The pair went on to earn the beach volleyball bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was part of the Trojans of USC in her college years after she graduated in high school. Ross's Trojans experience was awe-inspiring. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in the year 2000. In addition, she helped her Trojans get to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she went through a heartbreaking personal setback, but she was able to win an All-American. In her two final years playing for the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them succeed in winning consecutive championships. She was a great volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female college volleyball player. Ross studied foreign relations and international affairs at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the opportunity to see her daughter grow into an international beach volleyball star. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001, when Ross was still an USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. Ross is still awed by her late parent. Margie is an inspiration on the beach and all throughout her life.
