April Ross
April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball athletes to get medals from many Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days she'll be aiming to claim her third Olympic medal alongside first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross would like to do more than just her first Olympic medal. And at the age of 39 this may be her last opportunity to get it done. However, she's confident that top honours are on the horizon. Ross on NBC Boston, said that he felt confident we could be a winner by playing our best. In addition, I'm hoping to have some chance. Ross was born August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She lived with her family in Costa Mesa. She went on to compete across a variety of sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. Along with playing indoor volleyball, she also played tennis and also jogged track when she was a pre-professional athlete. But she clearly was a one of a kind in this latter game. While in high school she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter on a volleyball court according to her university bio. She was named one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. In 2000, she was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Even though Ross and Klineman have been playing together in 2017 and beyond, Klineman was already a big-time participant on the beaches way before they teamed up. She's won big events with different teams. The other is an icon of the volleyball world. In 2007 through 2013, she was teaming with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Along together with Kessy, Ross won the World Championship in 2009 as she raced in the international circuit. In 2012, the duo took silver in London's Olympics. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor won gold, beating them to it. It was fate that had them. Ross got Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics the year 2016. After graduating from high school and a couple of several years prior to hitting the sand as a pro Ross made her debut for the Trojans at USC while an NCAA. Her time at USC was awe-inspiring. In 2000, she was selected Pac-10 Freshman, and NCAA Freshman of the Year. She was also named an All-American. In 2000, her Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore year and yet she came back in the ranks of an All-American. After two more seasons as a member of the Trojans they helped succeed in winning consecutive championships. Individually she had cemented herself as a legendary player by winning this year's Honda Sports Award as the best female volleyball player. Ross was a international relations major at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the privilege of watching her daughter grow into famous in beach volleyball. Ross lost her mom to cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross holds her mother close to her heart. And Margie remains a source of motivation for her at the beach and in life.
