Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She has written fifteen books, and she is co-founder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an independent liberal news site and a television host, author, and philanthropist. Originally from Greece she moved to England at the age of sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. She was the first person non-UK to be elected the president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. She became a syndicated conservative writer following her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a few years following, she launched an online platform to voice opinions which offered critiques of political scenarios. She was able to get numerous prominent contributors to post their opinions regarding politics and culture. Arianna gained fame after she made the decision in 2003 to stand as an independent candidate for the California Recall election to succeed former Governor Davis. Additionally she also led the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes named her as 12th on their list of the Top Popular Media Women. Guardian also included the HuffingtonPost in their list of the top 100 in 2010. AOL, Inc. named her president of their media company in 2011 after they acquired The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post was joined by additional AOL brands like Engadget, AOLmusic Style list or Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who was a consultant in management as well as a journalist. They were very close to her father. But it was her bond with her mother who formed her. As a child she demonstrated leadership skills that she still is known for. When she was 16 she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In college, she was a member of the Cambridge Union, a college debate club. Being the third woman president, and also the first foreigner she was the president for the Cambridge Union. In 1972 she graduated with a master's degree in Economics. The career of a journalist and television host began after she graduated. She was on the show with Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own books with his aid.
