Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington works as an author, philanthropist, television host and the owner of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at 16 years old. At Cambridge University she earned a MA Degree in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to serve as president in the prestigious debate group The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took over the position. After graduation she made her name as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched an online voice platform that gave critical opinions about the current political climate. Her fame and popularity helped to get a number of prominent contributors to post their views on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna's popularity was first noticed in 2003 when she declared herself an independent candidate in the California recall vote to replace the then governor Davis. Alongside this, she led a Detroit project to promote vehicles that are fuel efficient. Forbes identified her the most powerful woman in the field of media in 2009. Her ranking was 12th on the list. The Guardian also included her on the list of top 100 media outlets in the year 2009. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she became president of this media group. This included many AOL properties of the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant. She was very close with her father. But it was her bond with her mother which has shaped her. She showed leadership traits throughout her childhood. She moved to England at 16, to pursue her education and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she was a member of the college debate Society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. In 1972 she graduated with a master's degree in Economics. In the years following her degree, she was a columnist-critic and a host on TV. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She began to write books, taking his help in editing.
