Debbie Gibson strongly established herself as a popular singer during the mid-80s. In the years that followed the new generation of artists were able to take over the music business but Debbie Gibson remained in the music business and pursuing her passion. Gibson was born on Long Island New York City on the 31st August 1970. She is a Virgo and has an Italian/Sicilian German, and a little bit Russian origin. She is the third of three children and is the daughter Diane Gibson and Joseph Gibson. As a young girl, she studied the piano with Morton Estrin. Her career began in 1983, when she wrote an original song entitled"I Come from America and then sent a video of the song to WOR in the course of WOR's contest. She was winning a song contest with WOR. She then had her mom convert their garage into an audio recording studio. An audition of one of her original songs Only in My Dreams submitted to a radio station led the D.J. to discuss the song with an Atlantic Records executive shared her music and quickly helped get her a deal. She began a promotional tour of venues throughout all over the United States. The year 1986-1987 was spent building up her songwriting library while still touring. Gibson would bring her mother to the club. Simultaneously she continued taking classes at Calhoun High School in Merrick New York from which she was a honors student.
